SPECIALIST: INDUSTRIAL NETWORK – INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL – GAUTENG – CULLINAN
Role Description: Reporting directly to the Specialist: Control and Instrumentation, this key role will provide specialist support, analysis, research, and advice to operations with regard to industrial communications (O.T.) networks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Operations to configure and install various OT network devices and services. This includes fibre optic and copper cabling, Wi-Fi points, routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS, VLAN, etc.
- Monitor OT network performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Assist operations to maintain network cabling and equipment, identify and resolve issues related to network transmission and other system issues.
- Ensure maximum uptime and performance of Cabling, Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Wi-Fi AP’s, Media Converters, Fibre Optic Network equipment, etc.
- Assist Operations with SCADA, PLC and field instrument networks. Networks include Profinet, Profibus, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Modbus (TCP/IP and RS485).
- Set OT network standards, specification and design parameters.
- Provide expert Industrial Network advice on Industry Best Practice and keep abreast of latest developments in area of expertise.
- Liaise with Group ICT for interface between ICT and OT networks.
- Engage internal and external stakeholders on Industrial Network related matters, and support operations on Industrial Network related engagement.
- Establish & maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the Engineering Function and operations.
- Ensure that all Engineering reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines and schedules.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Technical Diploma NQF level 6 in the electrical, electronic, instrumentation or communication fields.
- CompTIA Network+ or equivalent.
- Certification in any courses provided by network equipment OEM’s – please attach and indicate clearly on your CV
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the installation and management of industrial computer networks.
- Computer Literacy in MS Office suite
- Valid drivers’ license.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Install and configure and manage industrial communications networks and equipment.
- Interpret user/client requirement statements.
- Troubleshoot and repair network equipment.
- Document networks using CAD software.
