Who You Are:
- Have experience of working with government-regulated entities and maintain the strictest adherence to South African laws.
- Have strong legal experience in corporate and commercial matters
- A team player with an outgoing personality and interacts very well with people of all spheres
- A meticulous drafter of legal documents and focussed on detail
- Have excellent problem solving, analytical and business intelligence skills

What you’ll have done before:
Baseline:
- Have an NQF Level 7: Degree in LLB
- 3 years’ experience in Legal Law Firm.
- 10 years’ experience as a Corporate Legal Advisor
Advantageous
- Have an NQF Level 7: Degree in LLM
- 3 years’ experience within a Compliance related function

What you’ll be doing
COST CONTROL & BUDGET MANAGEMENT:
- Determine project forecast for year ahead and provide annual input into CAPEX /OPEX business plan/budget
- Develop annual CAPEX/OPEX business plan/ budget and ensure availability of accurate budget indicators
- Manage cost control processes and report on budget variances through tracking monthly spend and generate monthly CAPEX reports
- Ensure authorisation of expenditure is within approved LOA’s
COMPLIANCE FRAMEWORK MANAGEMENT
- Identify legislative and governance compliance obligations that are relevant to company to ensure license to operate is secured
- Review Group Compliance Framework bi-annually to ensure relevance to operating circumstances and changing regulatory landscape
- Roll out relevant initiatives to the business to ensure awareness and consistent implementation of the framework
- Ensure operational compliance with legislative and governance obligations in accordance with a risk rated framework
- Oversee operational compliance relating to identified licenses issued by regulatory authorities
LEGISLATIVE COMPLIANCE REPORTING
- Identify companywide compliance processes and controls to assist the business with legislative and governance compliance
- Implement companywide monitoring tools to facilitate and obtain assurance of legislative and governance compliance of the organization
- Identify and upskill key stakeholders required to embed compliance at a divisional level
- Monitoring and measuring compliance performance to identify the need for corrective actions
- Ensure that the Compliance Management Framework and Regulatory/Governance universe is reviewed bi-annually
- Drive implementation of changes to the relevant legislative universe by conducting regulatory audits, highlighting risk and implementing corrective action through the business
COMPLIANCE AWARENESS & EDUCATION
- Develop and roll out compliance training initiatives to ensure business empowerment to support the framework requirements
- Assist the business with understanding compliance risks and implementation of appropriate controls
- Upskill stakeholders on key legislative requirements and compliance related policy provisions
LEGISLATION MONITORING & TRACKING
- Monitor Engen regulatory universe for developments that have a direct bearing on the company
- Update the Business, MC (Prescribed Officers), Board and BARCC on company compliance status and introduction/changes to legislation in South Africa and international countries
- Ensure that new legislation is incorporated into the regulatory compliance framework processes
CUSTOMER & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT
- Pro-actively influence the development and evolution of client’s legislative universe
- Engage internal customers and stakeholders on service/delivery related to e.g. regulatory queries, access to licenses, compliance software access and assistance with the development of controls
- Ensure SLA’s are in place and adhere to, in relation to compliance software and attendant requirements
- Manage relations with external stakeholders through responses to regulatory queries, requests for information and license applications
- Engage and consult with all stakeholders regarding requirements as appropriate to maintain effective relationships
