Our client has an exciting opportunity available for a Group Tax Manager to be based at their Team Support Office in Umhlanga, Durban. The position reports into the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for the overall tax function and compliance across the Group including accurate reporting to required regulatory bodies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant Degree qualification.
  • Master’s in taxation.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Project management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of people management skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Tax Consulting environment.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, Excel, Word

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the Group’s approach to tax payments, reporting, compliance and advisory projects.
  • Provide strategic leadership and necessary support to the team on all matters related to tax (income tax, VAT, PAYE, betting tax, etc.).
  • Perform and manage health checks on all taxes and ensure these are completed annually.
  • Prepare training to teams on all matters related to all taxes.
  • Develop, co-ordinate and implement tax planning processes.
  • Performance management, monitoring and evaluation of tax team.
  • Ensure that identified interventions are actioned and report back on progress.
  • Project management of tax function and projects.
  • Responsible for engagement with SARS and gambling boards on matters related to tax.
  • Responsible for statutory and compliance reporting.
  • Monthly reporting on tax projects, findings and outcomes.
  • Any other related duties or adhoc projects as required to meet ongoing needs of the business and to support CFO.
