GROUP FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
Roles and responsibilities:
The Financial Controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the group, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the group’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with international financial reporting standards.
Duties:
General: (Includes but is not limited to the following)
- Prepare, examine, and analyse accounting records, management accounts, financial
- statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards for the Shared Services Company & the NPO. This will include maintenance of FAR, computation of taxes owed to tax returns and preparation of
- balance sheet reconciliations
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and
- strengthen internal controls
- Planning and co-ordination of statutory audits
- Review of subsidiary annual financial statements as and where required
- Management of contracts ensuring that these are in place and timeously renewed
- Manage outsourced functions
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Preparation of the annual budget and forecasts, updates and monitoring
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide for a system of management cost reports
- Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments and contract
- negotiations
- Coordinate the provision of information and responses to the various Gambling Boards Group insurance administration and updates
- Management and execution of special projects
- Assist in releasing daily payments
- SARS administration (registrations & compliance)
- Assist in research of technical accounting and tax issues for compliance
- Any other duties as delegated by the Group Finance Manager & the CFO
Qualifications & experience
- BCom Accounting Honours Degree & SAICA articles with a reputable audit firm as a
- minimum
- CIMA/ACCA/CA an added advantage
- Minimum +3/4 years work experience in a relevant role
