Purpose of the Job: Perform financial functions such as timeous payments in compliance with SCM policy, procedures and legislation and ensure monthly capturing and recording of all transactions in the accounting system and producing accurate monthly reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Grade 12
- Three-year Diploma in Financial Accounting or equivalent.
- 2 years’ experience in a financial accounting environment using the financial system.
- Working knowledge of the following systems will be an advantage:
- Online Banking System
- Pastel Evolution
Key Responsibilities:
- Capture payments on the online banking system, and monitor business funds in the bank account
- Capture information on Pastel Evolution and produce accurate reports on the Financial System
- Print and file all company bank statements
- Assist with monthly reconciliations
- Maintain and manage the Finance filing system and also do the annual archiving
- Control the Head Office Petty Cash Float
- Attend various meetings and take minutes of the meeting
- Perform general administrative activities
Technical and Functional Competencies
- Strong end-user computer skills with exposure to financial systems, Online Banking System and in particular, MS Excel Intermediate level, Pastel Evolution and MS Word.
- Knowledge and understanding of the business environment of financial management, in particular the factors influencing the chart of accounts and financial transactions in the general ledger.
- Knowledge and understanding of risk management processes, reporting non-compliance and internal controls.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) 1 of 1999, SCM Regulations, Treasury Regulations, IFRS and VAT legislation
